NMMG January 2015 - Neil Bedford

There is no such thing as a bad Meccano meeting and this one was pretty good, although there were not so many large models as we sometimes see. As usual at the NMMG there were a good many traders about - Mike Rhoades, John Thorpe, Dave Taylor, Leslie Mitchell and a couple of folk with smaller amounts to sell - this is one of the best places to pick up a few more parts and the car drove South heavier than it went North!

For me, outstanding models included a detailed motorcycle in shining zinc, a very nice blocksetter, a radio-controlled Supermodel dragline and a smart pair of Set Ten skip lorries, both in unusual colour schemes.
As always, refreshments were excellent and very welcome after the long drive to Oxton (with a quick stop to sort out a frozen windscreen washer bottle). I travelled up with Richard and Pete and met many friendly faces there. There was a small but lively auction with the best bargain being a well-used red and green Number Nine set which went for just £45. Geoff Brown chaired the usual admin section and spoke briefly about Skegex 2015 which promises to be another excellent event.
