Information about our Club

The South West Meccano Club is a club for Meccano enthusiasts in the South West of England and South Wales. We meet four times each year in the Bristol area.  Our Meccano interests include history, model building, collecting and renovation. We support our hobby with shows and displays both in the local area and throughout the UK.

Whilst we are principally a Meccano club, many of our members have interests in other modelling and building systems.
Interested in joining? Membership is currently only £5 a year. Please email  [email protected].

One of the major benefits of the membership of any club or society is the opportunity to meet like minded people and develop our shared interest by discussing plans and models, and exhibiting the results. In our club, we welcome new members of any skill level or Meccano holding: all we look for is the willingness to join in and enjoy yourselves. Remember that there are only 3 limitations to what can be achieved with Meccano. These are Time, Meccano component availability and Imagination … oh to have all three in abundance.

You can see the area our membership currently covers on the map - the bigger the red dot, the more members live in that area.

Malcolm Hanson

Our club was founded by Malcolm Hanson in 1984.  You can read more about Malcolm on the Malcolm Hanson - a short history page.

The Malcolm Hanson Trophy is awarded each year to the best model as voted for by our members. More details about this trophy and the rules for winning it can be found on The Malcolm Hanson Trophy page.
